Accelerator

While Tufts innovators generate groundbreaking scientific discoveries in their labs, translating these ideas into useful products for the public benefit involves many additional steps and requires substantial funding.

The goal of the Tufts Launchpad | Accelerator (TLA) is to provide Tufts’ faculty with the ability to advance disclosed technologies invented at Tufts towards commercialization, addressing the "valley of death" funding gap between end of basic research funding and commercial interest.

Awardees will receive funding of up to $35,000-50,000 and business development support from Technology Commercialization and the Auster Center to facilitate product development and technology de-risking, with the ultimate goal to attract follow-on resources and generate interest in licensing from existing companies or startups.

The TLA supports translational research of Tufts inventions aimed at: (1) generating additional proof-of-concept data, (2) developing a prototype, and (3) scaling up a process.

The TLA is managed by the Technology Commercialization unit, which provides business development support throughout the project lifecycle.
