Propeller

An early-stage translational program for Tufts researchers who are new to commercialization and innovation pathways, Tufts Launchpad | Propeller supports investigators as they begin shaping ideas that may lead to invention disclosure, external funding, venture formation, or industry partnership.

The program is designed to reach researchers earlier in the translation pathway, when industry perspective can help investigators focus on high-value questions, test key assumptions, and shape their work with a clearer path to real-world use.

Propeller features two stages:

  • Stage 1 (open to all Tufts researchers) consists of ~10 hours of content, available self-paced and online, to build foundational knowledge in IP, licensing, and the fundamentals of startups
  • Stage 2 (a small cohort of participants will be selected from amongst those who complete Stage 1) consists of one-on-one mentoring and several structured sessions supporting idea development and networking
    • Participants will be paired with mentors from the Tufts and Boston-area innovation ecosystem for guidance and support in research translation
